May Update

May had an unseasonably warm first half and the garden looks green and healthy.

Unfortunately we again had a fair amount of damage and theft seeing parts of bed 1 and 2 left bare. But we have started to replant those areas and hopefully we will see the first signs of new growth soon.

The eggplants are still going strong and producing flowers and fruit.
The okras have all but died after a massive aphid outbreak that seems to have affected only them.
The slugs are still having a good time though a lot of the earlier plants are big enough now to survive. Let's see, if the peas and new batches of lettuce, beetroot and brassica will make it this time.
Our Yacon plant has had a massive growth spurt and is now towering above the trellis. It has also started to flower. Its flowers look like miniature sunflowers which is not surprising, since those two are close relatives.

And we harvested our first turnip!

First turnip, last green beans and radishes
