March Update

A lot of the newly sown seeds and tubers have started to germinate and poke their heads out.

Some of the new growth that can be seen in the garden are:
  • Lettuce, Radish and Carrots in Bed 1
  • Coriander, Turnips, Garlic and Okra in Bed 2
  • Broad and Dwarf beans, Turnip and Swedes in Bed 3

The rain is also driving growth - and not just of our plants, also of an army of slugs and caterpillars that have discovered all the new growth.
If you are in the garden, spend a few minutes hunting and removing some of of them.

The compost and the worm farms are looking good and we might soon be able to take on more green waste from the community.
We are also setting up a compost roster and are asking for volunteers to help keep the compost and warm farms healthy and producing.

Unfortunately we also had another bout of theft and vandalism. The beautiful rainbow chard from Bed 2, all the radishes from Bed 4 and some basil and eggplant from Bed 3 were stolen along with a number of other plants and the bag of sawdust we needed for the compost.
