November update

November was a quiet month though we held two working bees and also took part in the Wild Pollinator count.

The Wild Pollinator Count is an independent project focused on citizen science and pollinator conservation run by Dr Manu Saunders and Karen Retra and has been running since 2015. It takes just 10 minutes to watch flowers in your garden or local park and take note of what you see.

During the working bee we did the usual tidy up and harvesting as well as compost related tasks. We were also able to use some of the new compost on the garden beds.
Compost helps the soil retain moisture and therefore is a way of helping the plants during the dry and hot summer conditions.

The flowering radish, coriander and mustard greens together with the borage and calendula growing in the garden provided us with good places to do the pollinator count.
